This fall I read Ruins of Gorlan by John Flanagan, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new adventure. The story takes place in medieval times of castles and knights with a few fantastical creatures thrown in for excitement. The book has reader appeal for both boys and girls. A story of friendship, hardship and overcoming obstacles, Ruins of Gorlan is Lord of the Rings for middle schoolers.
